Cobra Hydrocarbon
and/or Water Sensor

Inexpensive, miniature and reliable leak detector, detecting both hydrocarbons and water.

This is an inexpensive, miniature, effective, and reliable leak detector that detects both hydrocarbons and water, producing two separate signals.

The system consists of:

  *  Miniature probe (0.5" Diameter. by 0.625" Long)
  *  Electronic control/alarm
  *  Cable

The miniature probe contains two resistance elements. The probe's hydrocarbon sensor incorporates a conductive polymer that reacts to hydrocarbons and changes its D.C. resistance. The water electrodes change A.C. resistance when they come into contact with water. The probe is designed to be replaced after it comes in contact with a hydrocarbon.

The electronic controller uses C-MOS integrated circuits, and because of the minute current consumption, the system can be battery operated.  It may be used in remote locations, coupled with telephone lines, to provide leak detection in remote sites where there is no other source of electricity.

The principal use for this system is to detect leaks of either hydrocarbon products (gasoline, diesel, etc.) or water in the interstitial space of a double walled tank.

Another use is to detect leaks from underground fuel tanks by directly burying the probe, or by placing the probe in a well near or under the tank. talking to your customer
